The Salesian Order of Catholic priests and brothers were invited into Swaziland by the Bishop of Manzini back in 1953. Coming from a wide range of countries, the Salesians were at their maximum numbers of over 20 young men in the 1970s and today represent 5 different nationalities with a mixture of African and European Fathers and Brothers in residence.
For more than 20 years MANZINI YOUTH CARE(MYC) in Swaziland has provided support and care for homeless and marginalised youth who would otherwise be on the streets. Based on the guiding principals of the Salesians, MYC's holistic approach provides the basics of food, shelter, clothing and medical treatment, and also encompasses education, skills training, moral and spiritual development and assistance with job placement or self-employment.

Through the assistance of many international and local donors, Manzini Youth Care has extended its commitment to marginalised and underprivileged youth, to cover a wide variety of services. MYC has responded to the needs of the community and developed social, educational and entrepreneurial projects in addition to its residential homes. The fundamental aim of every project is to address the problems caused by poverty so those people most in need are assisted with basic resources, education and support to create a more sustainable and hopeful future .
